Blindfold yoga incorporates Pratyahara or the 'withdrawal of the senses'. During this practice, students wear a blindfold throughout the class and experience what it's like to practice yoga without seeing what they do. When sight is removed from yoga practice, there is no choice but to let go of competition, let go of comparison, and look inwards without judgment.
Blindfold yoga also strengthens 'proprioception' (perception or awareness of the position and movement of the body). With this yoga practice, body awareness is increased through other heightened senses. Students are trained to feel their body movements instead of seeing what they do to align their bodies and have the right pose.
Gain a new appreciation for balance, body awareness, a heightened sense of listening, and reflection. Putting on a blindfold will only make yoga practice and one's ability to let go of who everyone else wants them to be, much easier.
