Learn with Luna how to decorate a scarf or make a painting using Batik techniques. You can make your own patterns and designs, whether simple or complex in this private, online class. Each session takes 2-3 hours.

Batik is an ancient art in Indonesia that hails from Java island. In this class, you will learn three basic steps to practice the art - waxing, dyeing, and scraping (removing the wax). The process starts off with the wax to create designs on certain pre-defined areas on the fabric while using the traditional tool called tjanting (wax pen).

This is followed by, dyeing the fabric and then removing the wax by either scraping it off or by boiling the cloth. The result is a beautiful piece of cloth with some breathtaking unconventional designs. The art is traditionally practiced on cotton or silk fabrics.

Participants will be making either 1 scarf or 1 piece of artwork.

Luna is a Vietnam born artist who has demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent since her childhood. She is skilled with many different canvases; be it paper, wood, using Acrylic or Oil paint. However, her specialty is colorful silk paintings for which she has developed her own technique by designing mesmerizing silk art and combining it with a unique style of hand embroidery.
