Let your kids embrace the beauty of tradition mixed with modernity by learning Indian classical singing and dance!

In these private online 40-minute sessions (4 in total), your children will learn the principles of Indian singing or dancing from an experienced instructor who will customize the lesson to their skill level and learning goals. The class can be rebooked as needed to develop their skills.

Your kids can choose ONE of the following singing styles or dance forms to learn:

• Carnatic (Singing): Carnatic music is a significant genre of Indian classical music that has grown in global popularity, with people around the world performing, teaching and learning this singing form. You will gain knowledge and confidence in recognizing diverse melodies and rhythm. You can discover your natural scale of singing and your ability and velocity of variation will improve. You will learn about "ragas" (musical notes) and "tala" (rhythm), and working with both of them to create this distinctive musical form

• Bharatanatyam (Dance): Bharatanatyam is a pre-eminent Indian classical dance form and boasts the oldest classical dance heritage of India, widely regarded as the mother of many other Indian classical dance forms. These Bharatanatyam sessions will teach you how to perform this old traditional Indian dance. It is a combination of Raga, Bhava, Natya and Tala. You will learn about all the moves and practice the techniques required to perform Bharatanatyam dance.

• Kathak (Dance): Kathak is the principal classical dance of north India.  Kathak dancers traditionally related stories and moral tales of gods and goddesses and characters from the “Ramayana” and “Mahabharata”. You will learn about different techniques, steps and body movements which are essential to performing proper Kathak dance. You will learn and understand why face expressions and style matter in doing Kathak dance.
