Want to discover how to design modern furniture? Get started with this specialist furniture design course - in this 8 day online course, you'll learn the process of how to design and develop your own furniture designs in 3D with industry expert and award-winning furniture designer Rock Galpin.

Throughout the course, you'll produce initial drawings and sketch models, materials experiments, test designs, to produce a 3D model of your design with the help of your instructor and trained workshop technicians.

Your final design and model combined with a production drawing is the perfect way to plan out your furniture design in terms of the user experience, aesthetics, and manufacturer.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for those interested in furniture design, students with existing interior design skills who want to expand their knowledge, or for Interior Designers and those wishing to learn how to professionally design a piece of furniture or even their own collection.

Students don't need prior experience but they're helpful to have. It is recommended that you come to the first session with ideas of furniture design(s) in sketch/note form that you would like to develop, considering factors like an idea of who the design is for, where it would be used and a loose sense of the budget.

  • Standard modelmaking materials will be provided
  • Students need to bring a scalpel, 300mm metal rule (mm), set square, protractor, scissors, pencils (HB to 8B), pens and other recommended materials
  • Students should bring a laptop, layout pad or sketchbook, pencils, pens, set square, protractor, 300mm metal ruler, digital camera
  • Depending on your project idea, specific 3D modelmaking and project materials may be required for use from Session 3 or 4 onwards - the instructor will provide you the required list and purchase recommendations

Additional Info:
