Spencerian is a handwriting system devised by Platt Rogers Spencer, embodies a flowing and graceful script celebrated for its elegant, ornate flourishes. Following his death, Spencer's children and colleagues carried on his legacy, refining and standardizing Spencerian script to be used as an educational model for teaching handwriting in the United States.

Spencerian thrived and became the foundation for the creation of other American scripts and was used widely for business correspondence as well as personal letters and is often seen as the quintessential style of American handwriting.

This class offers a deep dive into the Spencerian Standard, highlighting the distinctive qualities that make this script both elegant and functional. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced calligrapher, this class is designed to suit all skill levels.

In this class, you’ll learn:

• Understanding of history of Spencerian Script
• Detailed study of the principles of Spencerian Script
• In-depth analysis of lowercase and Capital letterforms
• Writing words and spacing

Each session takes 90 mins

• In 5 sessions you can learn the basic pen strokes, movement drills, all the lowercase, spacing and joining letters
• In 10 sessions you can learn all drills, Uppercase letters, and the variations, and writing words
• In 15 sessions you can learn to conquer basic layouts and refine your script
• You’ll receive downloadable guide with practice words and additional resources to help you refine your skills.
• Materials/Supplies- The oblique holder, nib and ink can be arranged by the instructor for an additional fee of AED 200
• Holder- Oblique/Straight holder
• Nibs- Hunt 101, LPEF or any G nib (Nikko G, Zebra G or Tachikawa G nib)
• Ink- Walnut ink crystals, Tom Norton Walnut drawing ink or Higgins Eternal permanent black ink (either of the inks)
• Paper- Copy paper 100gms and above or
• Canson marker paper
• Borden and Riley #37 Boris Layout paper or Rhodia

Additional supplies:

• Few colored pens or fine point markers to make notes
