My journey into Modern Calligraphy began with a dip pen and ink, and for me, it's one of the most enjoyable ways to write. Using a dip pen and ink offers a tactile, organic experience, allowing you to connect with the art in a traditional way while still embracing modern styles.

In this class, you will learn:

• Essential tips on how to hold the pen for smooth and successful strokes.
• The full upper and lowercase alphabet (more than one style!!) Practice forming each letter, broken down by stroke, so you can build confidence and muscle memory to write smoothly and quickly.
• How to achieve a playful, relaxed style in your calligraphy while preserving its elegance.
• How to keep your modern script structured enough to keep the calligraphy neat and professional

Each session takes 90 mins

• In 4 sessions you can learn the basic pen strokes, all the lowercase, spacing and joining letters
• In 8 sessions you can learn all the Uppercase letters, and the variations, and writing words
• In 12 sessions you can refine your script and learn to navigate basic layouts

You’ll also receive downloadable guide to help you refine your skills.

Materials/Supplies- The oblique holder, nib and ink can be arranged by the instructor for an additional fee of AED 200

• Holder- Oblique/Straight holder
• Nibs- Any G nib (Nikko G, Zebra G or Tachikawa G nib) or Hunt 101
• Ink- Walnut ink crystals, Tom Norton Walnut drawing ink or Higgins Eternal permanent black ink (either of the inks)
• Paper- Copy paper 100gms and above or
• Canson marker paper,
• Borden and Riley #37 Boris Layout paper or Rhodia

Additional supplies:

• Few colored pens or fine point markers to make notes
• Ruler
• Mechanical Pencil
• Eraser
• Paper towel and small water container
