The oud is one of the most popular musical instruments in the Middle East and North Africa. This versatile stringed instrument is loved for its ability to brighten up gatherings or create a relaxing atmosphere. Here's your kids' chance to learn how to play the oud from a pro!
In this 1-hour private class, they'll discover the secrets to flawlessly playing beautiful tunes on the oud. They'll be taught by a professional musician who will tailor the lesson according to their ability and goals; students of all levels are welcome to sign up! Beginners will start from the basics while intermediate and advance students will work on refining their skills and playing more complex songs.
Book for 3 or 6 sessions depending on your goal or how much practice is required. Alternatively, book for 1 session to test out the class before committing to more sessions.
What you will learn:
- The proper way to hold the oud instrument
- How to hold risha (oud pick) and how to tune the oud
- The differences between the maqams (the Arabic scales: rast, bayati, hijaz, etc.) and how to improvise on them
- How to play their favorite songs on oud
About the instructor:
Mohamed Hosny, oud player and Arabic singer, songwriter, started his journey studying at the institute (conservatoire de music) at Alexandria Egypt. He then went to Arabic Oud House and had the privilege to study under renowned musical masters. Mohamed has performed in major chains in Egypt as an Arabic singer and oud player. Since moving to the UAE in 2015, he has performed in various prestigious hotels including Park Hyatt Hotel, Four Seasons Dubai, and Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi. Mohamed is passionate about his music and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others, teaching them, and inspiring them to try their hand in music too!
