Seijaku is a Japanese concept linked to tranquillity and peace. The most common analogy made to explain Seijaku is to imagine taking a walk in an open space of a Japanese garden. The class invites students to develop art journalling as a meditative process that brings quiet time to enjoy this calming process of creating freeform art using a variety of tools and techniques.
Students will be provided with all the materials required for the 6 projects, each building their skills and allowing them to explore many mediums with each completed project. A beautifully bound watercolor journal will be gifted to the student and 1 hour will be spent with each project to explore the use of watercolors, acrylic, shimmer paints, gel pens, watercolor and aquarelle pencils, oil crayons and metallic markers.
The student can take 2/3 days to complete the entire 6-hour class. At the end of each class, the student will have explored a media in detail, application, color concepts, and prepared a unique creation. The process of exploration and playing with colors is meditative and the student can continue their journaling journey beyond the class.
