Craft your own jewelry dishes, pots and coasters and discover that there's a resin for everything!

In this private online resin art class, artist Radhika will guide you through the fundamental techniques of making your own handcrafted works of art that combine beauty with function. At the end of a session you will have created your very own resin art piece!

Students can choose to make ONE of the following per session:

• 1 Jewelry Dish
• 1 Pot
• 2 Coasters

You can choose between 1 session or 4 sessions depending on your learning outcomes. Each session runs for at least 1.5 hours, but may run for 2 hours depending on the specific project and situation. Because the materials you will work with need time to set, there will be some natural breaks during the session where you can grab a coffee and ask the instructor any questions.

You will primarily work with Jesmonite, an eco-friendly resin composed of gypsum that is popularly used because of its non-toxicity and lack of volatile compounds. This makes it a safe and popular alternative to traditional materials such as typical resin, plaster and concrete. You will also use water-based pigments depending on the project.

Session Outline:

• Session 1 - Basic Technique: learn the fundamentals of measuring, mixing, pouring and sealing Jesmonite

• Session 2 - Terrazzo Technique: you will learn the Terrazzo technique and make your own terrazzo chips by mixing, casting and sanding the finished product

• Session 3 - Marble Technique: You will learn how to make Marble Effects using Jesmonite and water-based pigments

• Session 4 - Layering & Drawing: you will learn how to draw on your coaster or trinket dish surface and using layered technique embed them into your final piece! You can choose between 1 Layered Jewelry Dish or 2 Coasters to make in this session
