Create a fab ‘one-of-a-kind’ piece of silver jewelry by casting silver in cuttlefish bone molds!
Cuttlebone has been used as a mold making and casting material for hundreds of years. It is an age old sustainable technique, where the soft layers of bone can be easily carved with a design of your choice. The mold can easily withstand high temperatures for molten silver, holding it’s form and shape until the piece is removed. Each mold can be used only once, hence your ‘one-of-a-kind’ jewelry!
This private class takes 4-hours and is conducted over 2 sessions, each 2 hours. Learn everything from scratch, from the design, carving the mold in cuttlebone and finally casting & finishing three pieces of jewelry.
The workshop will start with an introduction of materials and ways to play with the material to create your first casting with cuttlefish bone. Once you finish your mold, molten silver will be poured into the mold and set. Finally, you will be able to add finishing touches to your creations.
