Are your kids interested in practical chemistry? Help them discover the art and science of cosmetics and learn how to make their own signature soap or moisturizer!
In this at-home 2-hour session, your kids can choose one of the following options:
1. Soap Making - Cold Process
A cold process soap is made when you mix oils like coconut, olive, or palm oil with an alkali to create a bar of soap. This process is called Saponification and it gives your kids complete control over the ingredients they want to include.
They'll be taught how to formulate soap recipes and calculate quantities - in addition to safety guidelines to manage the process without a hitch. The objective of the class is to get them comfortable in creating their own soap recipes at home. At the end of this class, they'll get to keep 100gms of their creation.
- Introduction to cold process soap making
- Difference between glycerin soaps and cold process soaps
- The material used for cold process soaps
- Introduction to color, perfume, and essential oils
- Introduction to making cold process soap bars
2. Soap Making - Melt & Pour
Melt & Pour soap making is a fun, inexpensive, and easy way to get started with making soap. This is a great option for beginners, as all your kids have to do is melt the premade base, customize it with favorite colors and scents, and pour into a mold. Once they get the hang of the process, they can experiment with advanced techniques like layers and swirls.
This class will teach them how to create homemade natural soap from scratch, using natural ingredients that you probably have in your pantry. They'll calculate how much soap they need to make to fill their mold and create their own recipes. At the end of this class, they'll get to keep 100gms of their creation.
3. Bukhoor & Dukhoon Making
Popular in Saudi Arabia and UAE, makhmariyah is a scented hair moisturizer that's easy to make and a little product in your purse is perfect for freshness on-the-go.
This class is designed for anyone looking to create perfume gel/oil from scratch, with the help of materials like petroleum jelly, glycerin and fragrance oils. Your child will be melting, mixing, and pouring your concoction into a jar/bottle and make their own creation! They can choose to create the gel or the oil form based on their requirements.
Participants will get to take away 100 ml of gel or 12 ml of makhmariyah oil
